Dr. Ma Chang Sheng of An Zhen Hospital in Beijing, China conducted a clinical study on six patients diagnosed with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. Sheng employed the Ultrasound Ablation System by electrophysiology manufacturer Irvine Biomedical to perform the ablation in the pulmonary veins.
He found the ultrasound ablation procedure was more efficient and less time-consuming than using radio-frequency energy, Sheng said. The procedures were conducted at the Shanghai East Hospital, the Shanghai Chest Hospital, and the Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital in Hangzhou.
