GE Medical Systems received FDA 510(k) clearances last month on two new ultrasound products, Logiq 5 and Logiq Book.
Logiq Book is a battery-operated laptop-computer-type scanner with wireless DICOM connectivity and 10 GB of storage capacity. It’s built on TruScan architecture, the same platform as the full-size Logiq 9 and Logic 7. GE is heavily advertising the scanner on Olympic Winter Games broadcasts.
Waukesha, WI-based GEMS said Logiq Book will ship this summer. Its first public showing will be at the March meeting of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) meeting in Nashville March 10-13.
A GEMS spokesman would not comment on the Logiq 5 ultrasound scanner, except to say that information on the product would be released in a few months.
