Siemens Medical Solutions division Acuson has shipped its AcuNav diagnostic ultrasound catheter to the New York Presbyterian Hospital-Cornell University Medical Center. The institution is the 100th customer for AcuNav, according to the Mountain View, CA-based company.
In other AcuNav news, Siemens reported that the catheter avoided the need for fluoroscopy during a minimally invasive surgical procedure on a 21-year-old pregnant woman at the Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans. AcuNav was the only visualization device used during closure of the patient's atrial septal defect (ASD), according to Siemens.
