Multimodality vendor Siemens Medical Solutions has introduced the Sonoline G40 ultrasound system, a portable unit designed for use in multiple clinical environments, according to the Malvern, PA-based company.
The scanner includes color Doppler and pulse-wave Doppler capabilities, as well as phased-array technology that permits cardiac survey and small-footprint abdominal imaging. Other advances include Virtual Format Imaging (VFI), which offers various linear, trapezoidal, and steered 2D imaging formats, Siemens said. In addition, parallel B-mode and color signal processing are available for high frame rates and better color performance, the company said.
G40 has a built-in CD read/write drive, as well as embedded connectivity that allows integration into DICOM-enabled networks and PC-based workstations. Future capabilities are expected to include 3D imaging, TGO tissue grayscale optimization technology, and SynAps synthetic-aperture technology for improved penetration and focus, according to the company.
The G40 system is expected to be available for purchase next month, Siemens said.
