Sonix SP is suitable for ob/gyn, orthopedics, emergency medicine, radiology, and other specialty practices, according to the Burnaby, British Columbia-based vendor. It features a PC-based operating architecture, and includes 3D and 4D imaging capabilities, Ultrasonix said.

Other features include Q Sonix, an exam wizard that walks users through patient data entry, application presets, and probe selection, Ultrasonix said. The scanner includes 60 GB of image storage space, a front-loading CD/DVD drive, and two front-loading USB 2.0 drives.
