Philips Medical Systems has introduced HD3, a new ultrasound system that is the smallest unit in the company's HD line.
HD3 provides grayscale and color Doppler imaging with one-button image optimization, cine loop review, and tissue harmonic imaging, according to the Andover, MA-based vendor. It also includes an adjustable flat-panel monitor, as well as analysis packages and measurements for a variety of exams, Philips said.
Targeted at small office practices, hospitals, and clinics, HD3 is suitable for many basic ob/gyn, abdominal, small parts, pediatric, vascular, and basic cardiology applications, Philips said. It's equipped with a broadband digital beamformer, and can store images and reports to recordable CDs. It can also connect to DICOM-compatible patient information and image archiving networks, according to the vendor.
The first customer shipments are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2005.
