Ultrasound technology developer Longport has placed its EpiScan I-200 system at Christie Hospital in Manchester, U.K.
The device is scheduled for use in conjunction with photodynamic therapy (PDT) for the treatment of basal cell carcinoma and Bowen's disease, in addition to routine clinical use at the facility, according to Longport of Glen Mills, PA.
The scanner will use ultrasound to measure pretreatment tumor thickness and map the regression of basal cell carcinomas as a result of PDT, the company said.
