Compact-ultrasound developer SonoSite reported revenue increases for its 2005 fiscal second quarter (end-June 30) that were tempered by an increase in net losses.
The Bothell, WA-based vendor said worldwide revenue in the second quarter of 2005 grew 29% to $33.5 million compared with $26.1 million in the second quarter of 2004. The company reported a net loss in the second quarter of $2.1 million, compared with net income of $64,000 for the same period a year ago.
The firm noted that the downturn in profitability for the second quarter resulted from the planned marketing investment launch of the MicroMaxx system. In addition, SonoSite said, legal expenses were higher than expected in the quarter.
