Ardent Sound of Mesa, AZ, will show its Voyager compact imaging system for the first time at this year's RSNA show.
The unit acts as a peripheral device to any PC and features what the company describes as an easy-to-use interface, along with B-mode, M-mode, 3D capabilities, and 256 grayscale imaging. The unit can be powered by battery or AC power and can be used with any PC with the Windows 2000 or XP operating systems and a USB 2.0 connection.
Ardent Sound says the unit is designed for emergency and trauma rooms, general practice, medical students and residents, and teaching hospitals. Voyager's primary clinical applications are general diagnostics, ob/gyn, and urology.
The system received FDA clearance in April and is available in the U.S. and internationally. Voyager's selling price is $4,999 for a system with one probe.
Ardent Sound also plans to give RSNA attendees a sneak peek at two other products currently pending FDA approval: the Spark ultrahigh-frequency array system and Seeker general-purpose array system. Both units have a variety of probes, are peripheral systems, and will work with virtually any computer or laptop.
