Compact-ultrasound developer SonoSite has launched an initiative to provide physician refresher courses using Apple Computer's iPods.
The Bothell, WA-based firm said the program would allow clinicians to view video tutorials on ultrasound procedures at the patient bedside. From June 2006 to September 2006, purchasers of SonoSite's MicroMaxx system will also receive a free video-enhanced iPod and two free educational video module downloads from SonoSite's global education Web site, according to the vendor.
These two modules cover the focused abdominal sonography for trauma (FAST) exam and abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) screening. Additional video modules for procedures in anesthesia, surgery, emergency medicine, and critical care will be available for purchase from the SonoSite Web site after this initial period, according to the firm.
The video courses are being produced under an exclusive agreement with Mobile Medical Media.
