GE Healthcare of Chalfont St. Giles, U.K., announced new features for its Vivid i miniaturized portable echocardiography scanner at this week's American Heart Association meeting in Chicago.
Called Breakthrough 2006, the new features include quantitative analysis tools and a wider range of applications. New features include SmartStress, a stress-echo protocol; tissue velocity imaging (TVI) and tissue tracking (TT) to visualize and quantify left ventricle function; and an optional i2 Performance package that enhances image quality with technologies migrated from the company's Vivid 7 Dimension echo scanner.
The new package also includes five new probes and an intima-media thickness (IMT) analysis package.
In other GE news, the University of Connecticut Health Center and John Dempsey Hospital of Farmington, CT, have selected GE's Business Access Management Suite and Patient Financials Suite, hosted by GE, in an application service provider (ASP) model, GE said. Using an ASP model will enable the facilities to employ the late-revenue-cycle-management technologies.
