AuntMinnie.com Ultrasound Insider

Dear Ultrasound Insider,

It can be hard to find a sonographer who hasn't suffered from a work-related musculoskeletal disorder (WRMSD). Acknowledging the problem, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) have published a paper on sonography WRMSDs and how they can be prevented.

The document also provides the basis for the CDC to potentially provide funding for prevention research, according to Susan L. Murphey and Joan P. Baker of consulting firm Sound Ergonomics. They provide all the details, as well as information on other work under way on ultrasound ergonomics in this month's Ultrasound Insider Exclusive.

As an Ultrasound Insider subscriber, you have access to this Insider Exclusive story before it is published for the rest of our AuntMinnie.com members. Get the latest on sonography WRMSDs by clicking here.

Also, stay tuned for follow-up coverage of ultrasound research at the 2006 RSNA meeting in Chicago. If you haven't already, you can also check out current articles on contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) in differentiating portal vein thrombosis in hepatocellular carcinoma patients, CEUS in characterizing hypoechoic focal lesions in fatty livers, and the prospects of elasticity imaging to reduce breast biopsies.

Do you have an idea for a topic you'd like to see covered? As always, please feel free to drop me a line.

Happy holidays from all of us at AuntMinnie.com!
