Siemens Medical Solutions has introduced a High Performance Imaging release for its Sequoia echocardiography platform.
The release, announced at the American College of Cardiology (ACC) annual meeting in New Orleans, adds two new transducers to the system. The 9L4 Multi-D probe offers uniform elevation focusing and is designed to yield improved contrast and spatial resolution, while 17L5 HD improves vascular image detail and overall resolution in imaging of the breast, small parts, and complex masses, according to the Malvern, PA-based vendor.
The High Performance Imaging release also includes the firm's Advanced SieClear spatial compounding with Dynamic TCE tissue contrast enhancement technique. In addition, a high-definition 19-inch flat-panel display has been added to Sequoia.
In other ACC developments, Siemens has released version 2.0 of its syngo US Workplace software. The release adds syngo Arterial Health Package (AHP) and syngo Mitral Valve Assessment (MVA); the two applications are also available part of the vendor's Sequoia 12.0 release.
Siemens is also giving ACC attendees a look at a handheld ultrasound unit first displayed at the 2006 RSNA meeting. The firm said it will target the system primarily for triage and screening applications in acute care settings.
