Compact-ultrasound developer SonoSite of Bothell, WA, has filed a counter complaint against GE Healthcare of Chalfont St. Giles, U.K. in response to that company’s May 15, 2007 suit claiming that SonoSite had infringed on GE’s patents for compact ultrasound technology.
SonoSite’s claim says that GE and its affiliated companies have violated SonoSite’s U.S. Patent Nos. 6,569,101, “Medical Diagnostic Instrument with ECG Module, Authorization Mechanism and Methods of Use,” and 5,817,024, “Handheld Ultrasonic Diagnostic Instrument with Digital Beamformer,” through sales of GE’s compact-ultrasound systems.
SonoSite seeks unspecified monetary damages and a court order against future patent infringements by GE.
