(Booth 6542) At RSNA 2007, Aloka Ultrasound of Wallingford, CT, will feature its ProSound Alpha 7 compact ultrasound system for cardiology and general imaging, with applications for obstetrics and gynecology expected in 2008.

2007 11 02 12 16 17 706Key features of the system include Directional eFlow, which visualizes blood-flow dynamics from low to high velocity flow without overlapping, according to the company. The system offers broadband harmonics, extended pure harmonic detection, and high temporal resolution to assist in the diagnosis of fetal heart conditions. Additionally, real-time 3D and 4D display and automated volume measurement function are available.

Look for Aloka to tout the scanner's ergonomic design, which includes a height-adjustable console and LCD monitor mounted on a flexible arm. Another advantage is ProSound Alpha 7's lightweight compact dimensions, and the fact that the scanner consumes 40% less electricity than previous models, the company said. In addition, the scanner's control panel can be turned horizontally for additional flexibility in imaging.

ProSound Alpha 7 has been cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, with anticipated availability in the U.S. and worldwide in December 2007.
