(Booth 4739) Shimadzu Medical Systems North America of Torrance, CA, will highlight the SDU-1100 and SDU-2200 ultrasound scanners as works-in-progress in the company's RSNA booth.
SDU-1100 can be used for all ultrasound studies, although a particular target market niche involves the obstetrician's private office. Image data is stored in a JPEG-compressed DICOM format to facilitate rapid access of stored images, and a digital dynamic image recording option allows viewing of recorded image clips on a PC. The scanner's real-time Doppler analysis technique is designed to enhance system efficiency and productivity, according to the company.
SDU-2200 Pro is another system appropriate for obstetrician office settings, although the system also offers advanced measurement software for interdisciplinary applications. A 3D imaging option (both volume and surface rendering) is available. This compact scanner incorporates a 15-inch high-resolution monitor, and offers easy integration with optional devices such as printers and videotape recorders.
Clearance for both systems is expected in the next several months from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, according to Shimadzu.
