Siemens Medical Solutions

(Booth 7713) Multimodality vendor Siemens Medical Solutions of Malvern, PA, plans to spotlight its X Class and P Class products at the RSNA 2007 meeting, including the Acuson X300 and Acuson X150 scanners, and pocket-sized Acuson P10 system.

Acuson X300 can perform vascular age assessments using the company's syngo arterial health package (AHP) for cardiovascular risk assessment, which can help predict a patient's risk of coronary artery disease. A variety of wideband transducers are available.

Acuson X150 combines diagnostic performance, ergonomic design, and scalability, according to the company. As a compact portable system, it is suitable in a variety of settings, and is field-upgradeable to enable such features as color and power Doppler. This system includes Siemens' 3-Scape real-time 3D imaging technique.

Acuson P10 is a pocket-sized ultrasound scanner that Siemens introduced as a work-in-progress at the 2006 RSNA show. P10 received U.S. Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance in January 2007, and Siemens will highlight the scanner's utility in triage, cardiology, emergency care, and obstetrics. Weighing in at only 1.6 lb, P10 fits into a lab coat pocket and performs 2D grayscale imaging.

Siemens reports that clinical facilities have used P10 for focused assessment with sonography for trauma (FAST) protocols to visualize internal structures following blunt trauma or penetrating wounds. P10 also includes cardiology presets and a thumb-based user interface.
