Dear Ultrasound Insider,
Breast centers today can benefit from any efficiency gain they can get. And a preprogrammed survey breast ultrasound scanning protocol can offer quantifiable value, according to researchers from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago.
The researchers found that such a protocol could save one minute and 40 seconds in scanning time compared with routine imaging techniques. If the protocol was utilized on 15 patients a day, that could allow for one extra patient to be scanned per day.

We're also proud to present a new article from longtime AuntMinnie.com contributor Dr. Lars Thorelius of Copenhagen University Hospital in Herlev, Denmark, this month in your Ultrasound Digital Community. In his latest work, Dr. Thorelius takes an in-depth look at contrast-enhanced ultrasound for characterizing focal liver lesions in the noncirrhotic liver. You can reach the article, including an extensive collection of video clips, by clicking here.
Also, be sure to check out our initial coverage from the Leading Edge in Diagnostic Ultrasound conference, held last week in Atlantic City. So far, we have articles on cardiac elastography and a status update on the outlook for noncardiology ultrasound contrast agents in the U.S.
In other news, ultrasound elastography was recently found to be superior to conventional ultrasound for characterizing breast lesions. For that article, click here.
