Compact-ultrasound developer SonoSite of Bothell, WA, has signed a deal to buy impedance cardiography (ICG) developer CardioDynamics of San Diego for $10 million.
SonoSite agreed to pay $1.35 per share for CardioDynamics, which reported 2008 sales of $24.5 million. The deal is expected to close in the third quarter of 2009.
The company's ICG products provide noninvasive assessment of cardiac output and other hemodynamic parameters, allowing physicians to assess and diagnose underlying cardiovascular disorders. The company's newest product, BioZ Dx, integrates ICG with electrocardiography, providing the ability to assess both mechanical and electrical cardiovascular function.
