The American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) has signed a management agreement with the International Society for Therapeutic Ultrasound (ISTU), effective July 1.
The AIUM will support the ISTU's administrative, financial, and member service functions in an effort to maximize the ISTU's mission of advancing therapeutic ultrasound applications worldwide.
In April 2009, the AIUM established the Therapeutic Ultrasound Community of Practice, a membership subgroup dedicated to promoting therapeutic ultrasound by assisting in the development of educational programs and providing an opportunity for networking and collaboration.
Laurel, MD-based AIUM has managed several nonprofit medical associations and currently has a management arrangement with the World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (WFUMB).
