Strong growth in SonoSite's U.S. hospital channel and contributions from recently acquired CardioDynamics helped the compact-ultrasound developer to an 18% increase in second-quarter revenue.
For the period (end-June 30), the Bothell, WA-based vendor had revenue of $61.5 million, up from the $52.3 million turned in during the second quarter of 2009. SonoSite had second-quarter net income of $1.9 million, compared with net income of $425,000 a year ago.
In quarterly highlights, SonoSite's U.S. hospital revenue climbed 20% during the quarter and CardioDynamics contributed $3.8 million in revenues.
International revenue was affected by a slowdown in Europe, and was up only 2%. However, profitability for the unit increased at seven to eight times the revenue growth rate, SonoSite said.
The company also had strong performance across all four vertical clinical markets, it said.
