Philips buys Chinese transducer firm

Philips Healthcare parent Royal Philips Electronics has acquired Chinese ultrasound transducer manufacturer Shanghai Apex Electronics Technology.

Philips of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, said that the acquisition strengthens its portfolio of transducers specifically aimed at the value segment in emerging markets. Shanghai Apex was founded in 1998 and has more than 130 employees.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
