Ultrasound and radiotherapy products developer CIVCO Medical Solutions has received a U.S. patent for an ultrasound tracking device.
Craig Cermak, CIVCO's senior design engineer, received U.S. Patent No. 7,926,776, entitled "Bracket for mounting at least one position detection sensor on an ultrasonic probe." The patent is implemented into CIVCO's GE VNav (volume navigation) brackets released last year and allows electromagnetic tracking sensors to be attached to an ultrasound probe, CIVCO said.
CIVCO cited the development as an enabling technology for creating its eTrax needle tracking system.
