Handheld-ultrasound firm SonoSite has signed an agreement with Soma Access Systems to bring that company's AxoTrack needle visualization technology to market on SonoSite ultrasound systems.
The technology combines traditional ultrasound imaging with enhanced magnetic technology to provide a real-time update of needle position that can be visualized as it travels through tissue to its intended target.
The Soma technology is designed to improve the safety and accuracy of central venous access by providing the real-time needle location throughout an entire procedure.
