GE Healthcare is looking to collaborate with a broader community of ultrasound researchers to evaluate new applications using ultrasound scanners and microbubble contrast.
The aim is to accelerate the development of innovative new therapeutic and diagnostic uses for the modality, GE said.
Under GE's new Ultrasound Innovation Circle, independent researchers will have access to the firm's technology and expertise to integrate and test their ideas. This may include GE resources for developing new research protocols, access to the company's scientific expertise in support of evolving research programs, and access to technical resources including equipment, data analysis, and other tools, GE said.
Stating that the company needs to be more open in how it collaborates with researchers, GE said it sees dozens of promising applications in development by independent researchers, and wants to connect with this community and collaborate with them to help spur development in the various technologies.
GE's research partnerships will be managed through Research Circle Technology, part of GE's licensing business, the company said.
