Ultrasound vendor Ultrasonix Medical has launched new needle-positioning technology for its SonixTouch and SonixTablet ultrasound systems.
The technology, SonixShine, is activated by a button on the touchscreen interface of Ultrasonix's ultrasound systems. Once SonixShine is activated, a button that says "shine side" appears on the touchscreen and prompts the clinician to select whether the needle will approach from the right or left side of the ultrasound image. When the needle is in-plane with the ultrasound image, it visibly lights up on screen, according to Ultrasonix.
