Visualization and analysis software firm Epsilon Imaging introduced its EchoInsight for cardio oncology with practical strain imaging at the American College of Cardiology (ACC) annual meeting in San Francisco.
EchoInsight is a vendor-neutral application designed to assist clinicians in study interpretation and reporting when monitoring oncology patients, the company said.
The new software features automated processing, rapid serial study comparison, and global and regional longitudinal strain and ejection fraction trending with percent change from baseline. It also delivers detailed visual-based reporting functionality to aid patient management and customized integration to healthcare IT workflow.
The company touted a study involving EchoInsight that was presented at the ACC meeting. Dr. Theodore Kolias, of the University of Michigan Cardiovascular Center, presented results from 50 patients who prospectively underwent an echocardiogram immediately prior to cardiac catheterization. EchoInsight was used for speckle tracking strain analysis of the DICOM images, and the results were compared to a vendor-specific approach using raw data with conventional strain software.
The researchers concluded that EchoInsight could be used to accurately access left ventricular systolic and diastolic function.
