SonaCare to incorporate SmartTarget into its HIFU system

High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) developer SonaCare Medical plans to integrate SmartTarget image registration and fusion software from University College London (UCL) into its HIFU system.

SmartTarget was developed by UCL and funded by the U.K. Department of Health and Wellcome Trust's Health Innovation Challenge Fund. It combines and displays diagnostic information from ultrasound, MRI, and previous biopsies to aid prostate biopsy and treatment.

SonaCare will incorporate SmartTarget into its Sonablate 500 system, according to SonaCare and UCL Business.
