Analogic plans restructuring

Medical imaging firm Analogic said it will restructure to streamline its business following its acquisition of ultrasound vendor Ultrasonix.

As part of the restructuring plan, an ultrasound transducer operation in Englewood, CO, will be closed and those activities will be consolidated with Analogic's existing ultrasound transducer operation in State College, PA. In addition, the company said it's in the process of consolidating manufacturing and certain support functions currently conducted at the Ultrasonix facility in Vancouver with its other facilities.

These activities will affect approximately 140 employees worldwide, principally in Englewood and Vancouver, according to the company. The transactions are expected to be completed by the end of fiscal 2014 and incur total pretax charges of approximately $5 million.

Analogic expects the actions will yield annual savings of more than $6 million, a portion of which is expected in fiscal 2014.
