GE Healthcare will supply its Logiq e portable ultrasound scanner to the PGA Tour and Champions Tour golf tournaments.
During the tours, trained clinicians on mobile health and fitness trailers will be available to perform ultrasound exams using the laptop-sized technology, providing information that could help injured golfers return to play faster, GE said.
Besides helping to make a clear diagnosis, ultrasound can allow athletes to see why they are having pain and how it can be addressed, said Physiofitness Assoc., which staffs the trailers. Having high-quality diagnostic imaging equipment onsite allows medical staff to make informed decisions, administer therapy, and follow patients who are treated during the tour, the company said.
GE has been an official marketing partner of the PGA Tour since 2011, and the company is the tour's official diagnostic imaging equipment and electronic medical records sponsor.
