Interventional and ultrasound technology developer Boston Scientific has unveiled its Polaris intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) system.
The system will support Boston Scientific's family of intravascular ultrasound catheters, including coronary, peripheral, and intracardiac echocardiography products, according to the vendor. Polaris also features ease-of-use enhancements and more powerful processing capabilities, compared with the firm's current iLab IVUS system, the company said.
Furthermore, Polaris' modular design supports the planned release of new Boston Scientific imaging products, including a fractional flow reserve (FFR) wire, a new family of IVUS catheters, enhanced software features, and better system control tools, according to the vendor.
Boston Scientific has received both U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance and the European CE Mark for Polaris. Current iLab customers will be able to upgrade to Polaris, the company said.
