GE unveils Voluson E10

GE Healthcare released its Voluson E10 ultrasound scanner for the U.S., European, and Japanese markets at this week's World Congress on Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology in Barcelona, Spain.

Part of GE's Voluson Expert series, the new scanner features GE's eM6C curved matrix electronic 4D probe designed for ob/gyn imaging, as well as the next generation of its HDlive 3D/4D image rendering tool, according to the vendor. Compared with GE's Voluson Expert BT13 system, E10 provides four times the ultrasound pathways, 10 times the data transfer rates, and four times the processing power, GE said.

Two new software applications -- Silhouette and Flow -- have been added to HDlive. Silhouette is designed to provide user flexibility in displaying internal and external structures, GE said. Flow incorporates HDlive technology into 3D/4D color Doppler images to show vascular structures with more realism, thanks to increased depth perception and demonstration of vessels in different imaging planes, according to the company.
