Philips Healthcare has introduced its Lumify smart device ultrasound program in the U.S.
The Lumify program is designed to allow mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets, to be used as ultrasound scanners.
The program is built around the Lumify transducer, which incorporates all of the electronics required for ultrasound scanning into the probe's handle. The transducer can then be connected to an Android-based smart device via a USB cable.
With its arrival in the U.S., Philips has added two advanced ultrasound transducers, an app-based online portal, and a subscription service.
From Philips' online portal, users will be able to order transducers, manage flexible subscriptions, and access Philips' support, training, and IT services.
