Canon Medical Systems USA has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance for a suite of liver analysis tools in its Aplio i800 ultrasound scanner.
Canon's liver analysis suite employs shear-wave elastography, attenuation imaging, and shear-wave dispersion to help clinicians evaluate fatty liver diseases such as steatosis, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis.
The FDA has also cleared various transducers available on Aplio i-series scanners, including a 22-MHz "hockey stick" probe that allows users to visualize small and narrow areas, as well as several transducers for abdominal 3D, obstetric 4D, neonatal, and vascular imaging.
Canon will exhibit its Aplio i-series liver analysis tools and transducers at the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) annual meeting in New York City next week.
