Baptist Health South Florida purchased numerous Acuson Sequoia systems for its 10 facilities and five centers of excellence in the south Florida region. The scanner enables high-resolution imaging that adapts to patients' size and personal physical characteristics, according to the firm.

Siemens introduced Acuson Sequoia in June as a completely new scanner that revives the company's storied Sequoia branding. The scanner is designed to adapt to the variations of each patient, including tissue density, stiffness, and absorption. The new Acuson Sequoia produces penetration up to 40 cm without the image quality degradation often caused by attenuating echo signals, Siemens said.

The system also has user-friendly features, such as gesture detecting transducers and a new ergonomically designed InTune transducer that reduces operator stress. Sequoia also includes UltraArt, which provides several image choices automatically generated with a user's preferred image parameter settings.
