Royal Philips, the parent of Philips Healthcare, said it has received airworthiness certification from the U.S. Army for the company's Lumify portable ultrasound app for mobile devices.
The airworthiness certification confirms that the handheld ultrasound technology meets military standards for use as a medical carry-on device. Medics can now depend on the hospital-quality imaging of Lumify for diagnosis and care in a wide range of locations, from inside an air ambulance to directly on the battlefield, Philips said.
