The Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS) is asking for its member organizations to review and endorse a set of guidelines on the prevention and control of infections related to sonography.
The Guidelines for Infection Prevention and Control in Sonography: Reprocessing the Ultrasound Transducer was crafted by the SDMS Sonography Disinfection and Infection Control task force to be consistent with existing regulations, standards, and current best practices. Organizations that do endorse the guidelines will be listed in the final document.
The SDMS has set an April 15 deadline for endorsement of the guidelines. Endorsement letters received after this date will not be listed in the first publication of the guidelines but will be included in later updates.
