Samsung Electronics subsidiary Samsung Medison is launching a new high-end ultrasound scanner called V8, which is designed to be a versatile system capable of a wide range of clinical applications.
The new system can be used in obstetrics, radiology, orthopedics, and cardiology settings and provides enhanced image quality, usability, and convenience, the company said.
In addition, V8 comes equipped with Samsung Medison's S-Shearwave Imaging software specifically for radiology. The software provides information about tissue stiffness as a result of disease using ultrasonic transverse elasticity. V8 also features S-Fusion, which allows synchronous alignment of medical ultrasound images with one or more cross-sectional studies, such as MRI, which are instantly reconstructed in the corresponding plane.
Samsung said the system is also expected to be equipped with artificial intelligence software called NerveTrack, which recently received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The software tracks nerve locations in pain areas in real-time and is designed for use in treating musculoskeletal diseases.
