Point-of-care ultrasound developer Butterfly Network has landed a large order from the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston.
MUSC will be utilizing the company's Blueprint ultrasound platform for patient care, health education, and medical research applications, according to Butterfly. Initially, the rollout will focus on practitioners and clinicians at MUSC Health Florence Medical Center, MUSC Health Marion Medical Center, and the University Medical Center.
In addition to defining new models of care in rural settings, MUSC also aims to work with Butterfly to incorporate point-of-care ultrasound training, including within its educational curriculum for medical students, nurse practitioners, and physicians' assistants, Butterfly said. The institution also plans to explore areas to utilize the technology in clinical research.
