Exo has launched a handheld ultrasound device, Exo Iris, which the company says uses real-time AI to aid sonographers of all skill levels.
The company said the point-of-care-ultrasound (POCUS) device will help physicians, nurses, EMTs, and clinicians in emergency, acute care, outpatient, and at-home settings. Exo's SweepAI technology automatically acquires images with a sweep of the caregiver’s wrist. The company said this reduces operator dependence and bias to ensure consistent and accurate imaging.
Exo Iris comes equipped with Exo’s Bladder AI software to help caregivers determine bladder volume in seconds. Exo said it has a suite of AI add-ons coming soon. This includes cardiac and lung AI suites that are currently pending 510(k) clearance by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Exo said the Iris is powered by the company's pMUT-based technology that uses piezoelectric crystals and silicon. In addition, caregivers have access to features like ultrawide field of view for imaging up to 150 degrees, allowing them to capture an entire liver or full-body fetus in a single view. Exo Iris also comes equipped with Exo’s POCUS workflow solution, Exo Works to document and review exams from anywhere.
Exo said the Iris is available for sale in the U.S. starting at $3,500.
