GE HealthCare's Venue Family point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) systems will now feature Caption Guidance, AI-enabled technology that provides real-time guidance to users for capturing cardiac images.
The move follows the company's acquisition of Caption Health in 2023. The latter's Caption Guidance is an optional add-on feature that supports clinicians at the point of care in a variety of settings and practices such as emergency departments, critical care wards, and anesthesiology. It gives clinicians step-by-step instructions to acquire ultrasound images for cardiac assessments.
Caption Guidance on the Venue Family POCUS systems is available in the U.S. GE HealthCare said it plans to integrate the technology into other ultrasound systems, including handheld systems.
GE HealthCare will debut the enhanced POCUS systems at the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) Scientific Assembly taking place October 9-12 in Philadelphia. GE HealthCare will also showcase the new Vscan Air SL, a handheld, wireless ultrasound system designed for rapid cardiac and vascular assessments at the point of care.
