France greenlights Sonio Samsung Medison deal

Korea-based Samsung Medison's acquisition of Fetal ultrasound AI software company Sonio has been approved by the French Ministry of the Economy and Finance.

Sonio will continue to operate independently while developing products and services compatible with all ultrasound device manufacturers, Sonio said in its announcement.

In May, Samsung Medison, an affiliate of Samsung Electronics, announced its intent to purchase 100% of Sonio SAS shares. The deal now closes following Sonio's second wave of clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2024 and with Sonio's reporting and workflow solution operating in multiple sites across the U.S., Sonio said.

Sonio was established in 2020.
