Computer-aided detection firm Intelligent Systems Software and suitor Howtek said today that they believe R2 Technology's patent-infringement lawsuit is without merit, and that they will vigorously defend against it. R2 announced yesterday that it had filed a complaint against Boca Raton, FL-based ISSI, alleging infringement of three R2 patents.
The complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, asks for a permanent injunction against further infringement and unspecified damages. ISSI and Howtek of Hudson, NH, said they expect the lawsuit will not have an impact on their proposed merger, announced in January.
