Spain’s Valencian Community selects Lunit AI software for breast screening program

The Valencian Community, Spain’s third-largest healthcare region, has selected Lunit’s AI software for its breast cancer screening program.

Following an evaluation of AI vendors beginning in 2024, the Valencian Community chose Lunit Insight MMG and Lunit Insight DBT to use in screening across the region.

This contract marks Lunit’s largest European project to date, the company said.

There are approximately five million people in the Valencian Community; the regional health authority aims to significantly increase participation in its breast cancer screening initiative from 250,000 to 400,000 women annually while maintaining high standards of care.

In addition to this commercial deployment, Lunit and the Valencian Community will collaborate on scientific research, with plans to jointly explore new strategies for improving early cancer detection and population health outcomes, Lunit added.
