Revenues from the sale of 71 Selenia full-field digital mammography systems helped Hologic of Bedford, MA, achieve record earnings in its fiscal fourth quarter and fiscal year 2005 (end-September 24).
Fiscal 2005 revenues increased 25% to $287.7 million, compared with $228.7 million in fiscal 2004. Net income more than doubled to $28.2 million, compared with $12.2 million in the previous fiscal year.
In the fourth quarter, revenues advanced to $78.2 million, a gain of 22% from $63.9 million in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2004. Net income rose to a record $9.5 million, compared with $5.2 million in the same quarter a year ago.
As of September 24, Hologic noted that its backlog for Selenia orders totaled 185 systems, while its total backlog for all products increased to $102 million, the highest quarterly backlog in company history and a 10% increase over the backlog as of June 25.
