The 92 mammography facilities that Pennsylvania's Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) inspected in 35 counties during the fourth quarter of 2005 were found to be operating within guidelines set by the Food and Drug Administration, according to the agency.
The DEP inspects each of Pennsylvania's approximately 400 certified mammography facilities annually under a contract with the FDA, which sets standards for these facilities under the federal Mammography Quality Standards Act.
Information on locating regional mammography facilities, and when the latest inspection for that facility was conducted, is available at the DEP Web site by typing in the keyword "Mammography" and clicking on "Mammography Facilities in PA."
