IDC to show prototype digital mammo unit

Digital radiography vendor Imaging Dynamics will be showing a digital mammography prototype at next week's 2006 RSNA meeting in Chicago.

The system uses an optically coupled detector design, according to the Calgary, Alberta-based firm.

In other introductions, IDC will be showing its XM series DR system, the first IDC fixed-table DR system with a single detector. The system provides a lower-cost complement to its X2200 series, IDC said.

IDC will also be showing its new X-Series detector line. Employing a modular detector design, the X-Series offers a broad selection of scintillator phosphor and charge-coupled device (CCD) recording technologies, according to the firm. Each model can be custom configured to provide optimized performance and cost for any clinical application, IDC said.

The detectors will feature microlenses and new lateral overflow drain (LOD) technology, according to the firm. Launch is expected in 2007.
