(Booth 7113) This will be Hologic's second RSNA show since the Bedford, MA, company acquired CAD pioneer R2 Technology in 2006. Hologic has branded its CAD offerings as Hologic R2 CAD, and look for the company to emphasize the transition from analog to digital mammography.
R2 DigitalNow is Hologic's term for the company's program to help mammography facilities make the jump to digital from analog mammography by scanning prior mammography films. Using analog technology in the digital world can cause multiple problems, from workflow disruptions as radiologists switch between analog and digital techniques to lightboxes that make medical displays harder to read.
R2 DigitalNow is designed to minimize such disruptions by digitizing films for soft-copy display so that prior film-screen images are displayed on a workstation along with the current digital images, and can be sent to an archive for use in the future.
R2 DigitalNow can be an option for existing R2 ImageChecker customers, or can be purchased as part of a complete new system, with or without ImageChecker CAD software. Hologic offers the program with several models of film scanners.
Hologic will also discuss its activities in CT-based lung nodule CAD, with the R2 ImageChecker CT Lung software. Look for the company to highlight the temporal comparison capability of the software.
