Virtual Radiologic debuts breast imaging service

Teleradiology services provider Virtual Radiologic has introduced a new service that aims to provide access across the U.S. to fellowship-trained subspecialists for breast imaging.

In addition to reading mammography studies, the firm's subspecialists will be able to provide interpretation of breast MRI, tomography, and nuclear breast imaging, Virtual Radiologic said.

After a client's scanning and information systems are connected to Virtual Radiologic's technology platform, mammography studies and patient information can be automatically routed to the company's fellowship-trained breast imagers. Utilizing MagView Information Systems' structured reporting system, the company said it can also facilitate direct communication between its radiologists and remote technologists.

In addition, radiology practices and their clients can have real-time communication with subspecialists, according to Virtual Radiologic.
