Growth in all four of its operating segments propelled women's health vendor Hologic to a 9% revenue gain in its fiscal 2012 first quarter.
For the period (end-December 24), Hologic posted record revenues of $472.7 million, up from $432.6 million a year ago. Net income was $20.8 million, up from $10.9 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2011. Both revenues and operating performance exceeded expectations, Hologic said.
Looking ahead, Hologic expects second-quarter revenues will range from $470 million to $475 million, driven by its fiscal 2011 acquisitions, the ramp-up of new products, and an overall strengthening in each of its operating segments. That revenue range would mark a 7% to 8% increase over the $438.7 million recorded in the second quarter of fiscal 2011.
Hologic expects to produce second-quarter non-GAAP-adjusted earnings per share of approximately 33¢.
